ARFT's AI Policy

In today’s world of data centers and the digital age,

we at Appalachian Renaissance Faire of Tennessee (ARFT)

are committed to hand made items and media.

We support our vendors, patrons, entertainment, and staffas they all come together

to produce art from human minds and human hands. Although we cannot 100% guarantee

that AI art and production has not been used somewhere in a creator’s process,

our AI policy is firm encouragement for all staff, entertainment, and vendors

to avoid the use of generative AI in all its forms. We believe use of AI cheapens

our products, services, and wares. We value our craftspeople and all the long tiring hours

they put in to create events, shows, and education for our patrons.

If anyone working for or with ARFT is found to be utilizing generative AI, ARFT policy states

a Board of Directors member will initiate a conversation with the individual to verify

the AI was not used accidentally. If intentionally used, the Board Member will the

attempt a resolution which may include but is not limited to: making contact between

the AI user and a reputable artist to fulfil the need, removal of the AI created

product or marketing, removal from any marketing or advertisement through

ARFT social media, up to removal from participation in current and future events.

Our goal is not to punish AI users at our events, but provide connections to artists

and craftspeople who may fulfill the need for which AI was used.

Support local artists. Support independent makers. Celebrate human creativity.

Because real magic happens when real people create it
